Kevin Call has more than 30 years of varied experience providing professional services as a Certified Public Accountant. His background includes accounting, auditing and consulting services. Kevin began his career as an auditor in Chicago with a major international auditing and consulting firm. His responsibilities included overseeing field work for the audits of publicly-held companies registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"). In addition, he spent several years in a technical research and audit review capacity critically reviewing the work of others for compliance with professional standards.
Since 1986, Kevin has focused his work efforts on providing consulting services to a variety of clients. He has, for example, assisted counsel and Boards of Directors in performing corporate internal investigations to identify and evaluate misstatements of financial statements and employee fraud. Kevin also has extensive experience assisting counsel as an expert in performing economic damage calculations and critically reviewing the calculations of opposing experts. As an economic damages expert Kevin has performed complex calculations involving commercial lost profits in the contexts of tort and breach of contract claims as well as lost earnings for individuals. He has experience providing consulting services to legal counsel representing both defendants and plaintiffs in suits involving disputes over the standard of care exercised by auditors. In addition, he has managed the operations of a Minority Business Development Center that provided a variety of business consulting services to minority and women owned small businesses.
In 1999 Kevin became accredited as a Certified Valuation Analyst by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts ("NACVA"). Since that time he has appraised closely-held businesses and security ownership interests for a variety of purposes including buy-sell transactions, estate and gift tax transfers, charitable contributions, divorce, other contested legal disputes, and fair value accounting.
Kevin has been qualified to testify as an expert in accounting, economic damages, and valuation in both Federal and state courts and before arbitration panels of the American Arbitration Association and the National Association of Securities Dealers. He has regularly spoken to professional groups and developed continuing professional education presentations on a number of topics including accounting and auditing pronouncements, fraud investigation, economic damages calculations, business valuation principles, and litigation consulting services. Kevin is an adjunct professor in accounting at Metropolitan State College of Denver. He has taught classes in financial auditing and cost accounting.
Kevin is licensed to practice public accounting by the Colorado State Board of Accountancy. He has been active in professional organizations throughout his career. He is currently a member of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants,
Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants,
National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, and the
Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is also active locally in the Front Range Business Valuation Study Group, a select organization of the most experienced business valuation practitioners in Colorado, and serves as the President of the Colorado/Wyoming Chapter of NACVA.
